Mike Miles
Chief Operating Officer
He is an Executive Director and Shareholder of KAMM HOLDINGS which he co-founded with Keith Anderson.
Mike holds qualifications from the Universities of Rhodes, Natal and Wits Business School and is an attorney by training. Prior to co-founding KAMM HOLDINGS, his wide business experience was acquired through holding senior industry roles in petro-chemical, finance, real estate and manufacturing industries.
After leaving legal practice in early 1990’s, he established Engen Petroleum’s local Legal Division and held key positions in the company’s Mergers and Acquisitions, Planning and New Business, Retail and Property Divisions. Mike joined the initial senior management team establishing SA Home Loans, South Africa’s first discount home loans specialist and non-bank lender. He headed its Legal and Valuations Divisions, sat on Credit Committee, being integral in the company’s success through contributing to pioneering its launch and placement of securitized mortgage bonds.
Mike has co-founded strategic property development mixed-use focused companies in KZN, South Africa including UKUSA Development (Pty) Ltd which was the province’s first Public/Private/Partnership, negotiating the acquisition in 1998 of the strategic Lower Umhlanga Triangle from Ethekwini Metro for +R50 million.
Mike through his KAMM aligned company, Ridge Bay Developments was pivotal in negotiating the acquisition of the 22 hectares state-owned Natal Command military base state land for the development of an internationally advanced Durban Film City, a R1.2 billion rand first world development.
Mike’s core business focus is mergers and acquisitions, buy/outs, venture capital and structuring, corporate governance and regulation, sourcing strategic opportunities, being fundamental to the development of key relationships with synergistic value-add sector and technical partners.
He plays a vital role in providing strategic advice with KAMM and independently guiding the company’s investment decisions as part of the company’s sound corporate governance strategy. His interaction with clients and strategic partners alike ensures transactions are concluded in a sustainable and efficient manner. He is co-responsible for deal sourcing and investment management. He provides specific strategic and rigorous investment, opportunity and management analysis to the company’s opportunities. He brings to KAMM a wide network of contacts and influence from the various organisations he interfaces with whether private, or governmental, vital for unbundling investment opportunities, managerial support and leadership to KAMM’s partners.
Mike sits on several boards adding commercial acumen compounded by his knowledge built up in various industries. Some of the private equity vehicles he sits on are: M Solutions; Reclite; AEG Solutions; Ukusa Developments; Ridge Bay Developments; Charter Group; Mthaniya Trust.
Mike is also a Director of E-Waste Association of South Africa (EWASA)
